income tax help for singer songwriters?
My girlfriend is a singer songwriter in Nashville, she is preparing to do her taxes and we are trying to find out if anyone knows anyone in the tax biz that specializes with entertainers and performers, so that she can get the applicable write offs and feel confident she is getting every advantage possible.

Chanteuse_ar: I hope someone can find you a local CPA who can help with this. You're in Nashville there have to be dozens of them who are experienced in this area, but if you are still having trouble, there are loads of books on this subject written by CPAs & musicians and loads of articles free on the web written by qualified people such as http://www.musicbizacademy.com/articles/businesshobby.htm . I've been working as a musician under a sole proprietorship for years...it's not that hard once you get the hang of it. If no one can find you a name, I suggest you just get out the yellow pages and start calling CPAs and just ask if they've worked with artists' tax returns. I'm sure you'll find someone relatively quickly.
