tax question?
can anyone tell me what % of your wage you pay in tax in south australia, if your a single male earning $40000/year
Answers:
Moonsun: Its not really done by percentages as the government takes a set amount then something like 27 cents out of every dollar you earn over 21 thousand dollars. You can figure it out with the tax calculator on the ato (australian taxation office) website. However if you want a rough estimation it's around 20 - 25 percent. It's the same Australia wide.

dm_dragons: The first $21,601 will be $2,340 in taxes (or 10.8%). The amount between $21,601 and $40,000 will be 30c for every dollar. If my math is right, then the grand total is $7,859.70 in taxes on $40,000...or 19.6%.
