Bob F:  Sounds like a good idea to me. How else are we going to be convinced that we don't need 4000 pound SUVs so that one person can drive alone to work every day in it, getting 8 miles to the gallon, when he could just as well be driving a lightweight compact hybrid getting 40 miles to the gallon? How else are we going to make alternative fuels (ethanol, methane, hyrdrogen, etc.) more attractive? Plus the added tax revenue can be used by power hungry bureaucrats to screw up the country even more than they have so far.
