Say i have $1000 invested in 401k. What should i do with it today. Will it even survive today's record losses?

Mark: It depends on what you have it invested in. At this point, if it is invested in stock funds, I would do nothing. Yes, it will survive today's losses.
As a 401k investor, you are investing for the long term.
You might consider "dollar cost averaging" for future investments. Buy your stock funds gradually with your payroll deductions. The upside possible return will be there. It is always difficult to pick the bottom to the market.
