token girl: Hi, Without knowing what are your specific business needs or your accounting aptitude, it's a bit difficult to assess - BUT - going on feedback I have received from other people/clients I think your best choice that will satisfactorily handle both business & personal accounting is MYOB. Quicken in my opinion is simplistic - but helpful in organizing things. Peachtree I have no experience with but have been told it's overkill for small business & not all that easy to use. MYOB (AccountEdge) is straightforward in it's interface & offers a lot of customizability. Not to be overlooked is that it is seamlessly cross-platform as well. I say assess all three if you are considering them equally. Play with trial versions & see how you feel about how the software meets your needs. Cheers

Sean Roberts: I used Peachtree when I was the treasurer of my church. I found it easy to use. I think every software package will have a learning curve. I haven't used Quicken or Myob, so I don't know whether the learning curve is longer or shorter.
I would suggest you google "MYOB evaluate" and "Quicken evaluate". You can also go to the websites for MYOB and Quicken. They usually have screen shots.
I'm trained as both an accountant and a computer technician. It's possible that Peachtree was easy for me, because I'm used to accounting software in general. As a computer technician, I've discovered that the thing that makes software easy or hard to use is the manual. Software manuals are written by people who are thoroughly familiar with the software. You may want to post another question asking whether the manuals for these programs are user friendly. Also ask whether the manuals provide key stroke by key stroke instructions.
