How much federal tax will be taken off if I make 23,000 a year as a single filer?
I'm not sure how to calculate all of this correctly. I live in CT and would lose 950.00 a year for income tax. What will be taken out of my paycheck during the year for federal taxes, and what exactly is included in federal tax deductions? Will my tax deductions be less if I mention my medical co-pays/insurance premiums and prescription costs? So confused! Any help is appreciated!

Judy: What's deducted depends on what you put on your W-4. Your federal income tax will end up around $1600 if you're single and not a dependent. You'll also payin around $1300 for social security and medicare. Unlikely that the copays and prescriptions would make any difference for your taxes.

tro: single, no dependents, your taxable income will be $13500, your federal tax rate is more than 10% but less than 15%(let's split the difference, 12.5% or approx $1688 dollars federal tax)
Weekly pay should have about $33 each paycheck for FIT
unless you can itemize on sch A greater than your standard deduction the medical costs will not be applicable
FICA is not a choice it is r'qd withholding and in 2011 is 5.65%
